The
LNCIB Unit of Molecular Oncology is a research team focused on
understanding the molecular basis of cellular transformation, with
particular
attention
to
the connections that may exist between diverse pathways
that regulate cell survival, proliferation and differentiation.
We believe that a solid understanding of the complexity of such
interactions, and of
their functional significance in the context of adult tissues
and during embryonic development, is
a critical step for
the
identification of molecular targets for cancer therapy.
|
The
Unit is also developing tools to interfere with the
physical interaction of biologically relevant proteins, doing extensive
protein interaction screenings, and designing biologically active
peptide aptamers.
|
The
Molecular Oncology Unit is part of the PhD
program in Molecular Medicine, and
graduate students represent a significant component of the research
staff. The
Unit is also regularly
hosting and training undergraduate students from the University
of Trieste and other italian universities.

The Molecular
Oncology Unit is part of the L.N.CIB (National
Laboratory of the Interuniversity Consortium for Biotechnologies),
located in the AREA
Science Park, in Trieste, Italy.
